Summary of Primary Issues Resolved for Autodesk Civil 3D 2004
This service pack fixes approximately 100 issues in Autodesk Civil 3D 2004. Several of the fixes are described in the following list.

General
Creating objects on top of the segments of another object in the same site, or attempting to grip edit objects that have shared segments, no longer causes Autodesk Civil 3D to crash.
The Category Display Name of coordinate systems with coordinate system codes that start with "LL" are now maintained.
The Import Data From Land Desktop command no longer requires manual loading.
Import LandXML command now inserts objects on the layers specified for their object types, rather than the current layer.

Points
Point Latitude and Longitude values are now correctly displayed in the Point Editor.
The Points > Edit > Datum command is now working correctly.
The Points > Edit > Renumber command is now working correctly.
Imported points now respect the specified point style.

Project Management

When you attempt to check out points to a drawing that has points with the same point numbers, a duplicate resolution dialog box is now displayed, with options to skip, merge, overwrite, or cancel.
A warning is now displayed when you attempt to check a point into a project that has the same name as a point already in the project.
Checking out points from the Drawing collection in the Prospector tree now works correctly if the points do not already exist in the drawing.
The Check Out command now correctly filters out protected points.
The Delete From Project command now correctly deletes selected points.
Deleting a project no longer causes a drawing to lose its attachment to a different project.

Surfaces
Changing the style of a surface no longer marks associated volume surfaces as Out of Date.
Inserting and exploding a drawing that contains a surface and surface legend tables no longer requires you to recalculate the surface data using the Analysis tab of Surface Properties dialog box to update the legend tables.
Surface smoothing is now correctly applied along surface boundaries.
Surface styles are now applied correctly to imported TIN files.
DEM units are now correctly converted when the drawing unit is different than the DEM file unit.
Parcels
Using OSNAPs with the PI and Attach Lot Line commands in the Parcel Layout Tools no longer causes Autodesk Civil 3D to crash.
The Add, Delete, and Break Apart PI commands in the Parcel Layout Tools no longer cause Autodesk Civil 3D to crash.

Alignments
The Fixed Curve (Two Points and Direction at First Point) and Fixed Curve (Two Points and Direction at Second Point) commands in the Alignment Layout Tools no longer cause an angle rounding error.

Profiles
Profiles can now be created from Grid surfaces.

Sample Lines
Layer prefixes and suffixes for sample lines are now applied correctly.
Grading
When applying grading to a portion of a polyline, clicking the Create Grading button again in between selecting the start and end points of the grading range no longer causes Autodesk Civil 3D to hang.
You can now grip edit a grading object with transition regions.
Grading object intersections are now created correctly between separate grading objects within the same grading group.
Creating a surface from a grading object is now working properly.
Modifying a vertex elevation to a value that matches the target line no longer causes Autodesk Civil 3D to crash.

Tags and Labels
Undoing the creation of a tag now correctly resets the starting tag number.
Changing the component name on the Summary tab of the Label Style Composer now updates the name on the Layout tab.
The Explode option in the Insert dialog box no longer causes Autodesk Civil 3D to crash when inserting a drawing that contains a parcel line table.
Table fill settings now correctly respect layer on/off settings.
Titles are now created correctly for each section of a split alignment segment table.
The DD-MM-SS.SS (dashed) label attribute now correctly uses dashes.

Instructions about how to use the /e and /p command line switches are included in the procedures that follow.

Applying this Service Pack to an Autodesk Civil 3D 2004 Network Administrative Image
The following two methods of distributing Autodesk Civil 3D 2004 Service Pack 1 apply only to administrative images created with the Autodesk Civil 3D 2004 Network Installation wizard. After you complete these procedures, any new deployments of Autodesk Civil 3D 2004 will have the service pack applied to them automatically.

NOTE: In both of the following procedures, the service pack file that you download contains an MSP (Microsoft Patch) file. You must extract that file from the executable file. To extract the MSP file from the executable, use the /e ("extract") switch.

NOTE: The following procedures require you to first download and run the Autodesk Network Installation Wizard patch. The Autodesk Network Installation Wizard patch allows you to apply a service pack to an existing AutoCAD 2004-based product administrative image. You can find the patch at http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=DL404080.
